I wanted to take Coleman around and him show Ferndale, Washington. Turns out, there's not too much to show in a small town. So I decided to take him to Hovander Homestead and Tennant Lake. Both places are usually frequented by kids on class field trips but because school hasn't started yet, we had most of the place to ourselves.
This is the famous Hovander Tower. I climbed it as a small child, now Coleman has conquered it as well.
Coleman and his cousin, Gunner, climbed all the way to the top.
(back in my day, the windows were open... thankfully, they have placed protective screens there now)
This is the staircase that leads to the top of the tower. Doesn't this make you want to climb it?
After Hovander, we walked a trail that lead down to the Nooksack River.
After Hovander, we went to Tennant Lake.
Yes, this is a lake. It's just covered in Lily Pads.
Hooray for Elementary School Field Trips
